Nowdays, language is one of the important things that we have to be aware of in applying for a job or in communicating with someone else who comes from different countries. In this era, English is an international language that we need to learn. Actually, if we can speak English very well, I am sure that we can survive in facing this globalization era.
Lately, some of young learners have similar difficulties in learning grammar as their second language. Some of them also do not know about the basic grammar, such as parts of speech and tenses. Grammar becomes the barrier for them in learning English because they do not understand the basic grammar. Actually, some of students are good in English speaking but when they have to write in English, they still have grammatical error in their writing.
Then, I will do my final project with Ai Siti Lisma. In doing this final project, we only focus on parts of speech and tenses. Actually, I only focus on parts of speech and Ai focuses on tenses. We will do our final project separately, but in developing the product we will do it together. Actually, the reason why we only focus on parts of speech and tenses because our target is young learners, aged 10-14. Another reason is some of elementary school students do not understand about parts of speech and tenses. In my opinion, why they do not understand about the basic grammar because in their mind, they think that grammar is a difficult lesson, so until the end they will do the similar mistake when they write in English.
Consequently, I will illustrate how grammar exercises using macromedia Flash 8 can attract young learners to learn the basic grammar. In my final project, it will contain simple exercises, simple explanations, full colours, pictures, and sound effects. These exercises are important because young learners can learn grammar with the fun way and the exercises and the explanations are easy to understand, so they can get the idea easily.
